Our take

EFS deserves a closer look when fuel buying is tied to dispatch, driver funds and back-office reporting. Its card controls and optional services can bring several road expenses into one workflow; the Mastercard version extends purchasing beyond the fuel network. The tradeoff is setup and program detail: integration credentials, driver prompts and a written fee schedule matter. The selected accounts show why a pilot with a few drivers is useful before moving the whole fleet—especially for mobile fueling and exception handling.

What stands out

A closer look at EFS / WEX

Savings at my stops

Price a week of your actual stops under the proposed agreement. A network location, cash-price benefit and negotiated discount are different things; route-level savings matter more than the size of the acceptance network.

Account setup and integrations

Fleetio requires its EFS connector, not its WEX connector. EFS must enable data sharing and provide separate feed credentials; allow up to five business days.

Fleetio matches the entered unit number to the vehicle name. Missing or mismatched entries need reconciliation; MoneyCodes and express codes are not supported by this feed.

Fleetio polls every five minutes, but merchant batching can delay a transaction by hours.

EFS publishes US wire, ACH and check instructions. Correct payment references matter; confirm posting time and your billing cycle during setup.

One public OTR agreement makes payment due on the statement date, or the preceding business day for non-business dates. Credit review can require more frequent payment; confirm your issued agreement.

The same agreement requires written billing disputes within 60 days and payment while investigated. Report suspected card misuse immediately; retain transaction records.

Advertises 24/7 customer service at 888-824-7378, plus online and mobile account access.

Separate forms cover billing changes, fraud, non-fraud disputes and check void requests. Use the form for the relevant card network.
