Our take

Northland deserves a closer look when cargo protection and the cost of a disabled truck matter as much as the starting premium. Its coverage choices give your agent several ways to shape a policy around the freight you haul. The decision is in the details: the cargo form, downtime limits and responsibility for urgent paperwork. Recent forum accounts show that a competitive first year does not settle the renewal question. Compare the written coverage and continuing costs before choosing.

Getting covered

Compare the cargo form against actual commodities and maximum load values. A cheaper form may need extra endorsements before it fits your freight.

Deluxe coverage

Deluxe reduces the original physical-damage deductible by 25% per loss-free year, reaching zero in year five. Its aggregate deductible applies once per loss involving multiple covered autos.

Deluxe provides up to $100 per day for 30 days. Higher rental limits can be added; this is not unlimited replacement-truck or lost-revenue coverage.

Roadside assistance and towing

Roadside coverage reimburses eligible breakdown assistance, including battery, tire and lockout service. Accident-related disablement is excluded from this coverage.

Per disablement: $500 roadside assistance, $2,500 towing and a $250 deductible, with a two-disablement maximum per vehicle. Towing is to the nearest capable repair facility.

Telematics program

Depending on the primary risk state: up to 15% premium discount OR a monthly device subsidy ($25 with camera; $15 otherwise). You cannot choose or combine the programs.

Requires primary auto liability and Class 7/8 trucks or tractors. Hotshots and lighter trucks are excluded from this program.

Discount: all units for 1–10-unit accounts; at least 75% for larger fleets. Subsidy: eligible units need 500 miles in the prior month.

Enrollment through TruckerCloud permits data use for claims, underwriting and research. Continued sharing is required; discount changes apply at renewal.
